Sure, the on-field workouts at the Combine are the made-for-TV portions of the NFL Draft scouting event, and NFL Network indeed will televise all four days of drills, including the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical and broad jumps, 20- and 60-yard shuttles, 3-cone drill and position-specific drills. But the truth is NFL scouting staffs will have already completed evaluations on prospects by the time the 2018 NFL Combine arrives.

The NFL Combine serves as an opportunity for NFL team executives to meet those prospects. Sporting News last year detailed how those decision-makers treat the NFL Combine. While the Underwear Olympics might be the highlights for viewers, teams will be more interested player interviews and physicals.
