The show used its Instagram account to announce that the third season will premiere immediately following Super Bowl LIV on February 2. That means fans will only have a month and a half before the show returns.
In the same Instagram post, Masked Singer also debuted one of the upcoming celebrity costumes for next season. While the post did not say the Banana featured on the post as a celebrity costume for Season 3, Fox confirmed that Banana will compete on the show when Newsweek asked.
Season 3 of The Masked Singer will continue to air on Wednesday nights this winter, meaning that the premiere episode will be the only one broadcast on Sunday.

There could be some major changes to the format, though. Showrunner Izzi Pick Ibarra told Good Housekeeping that the show considered live episodes for Season 3. There’s no confirmation on if that idea came to fruition, or if Season 3 will also be pre-recorded like the previous seasons. Ibarra did confirm, though, that the Celebrity Smackdown elimination rounds, which were new to Season 2, will continue in Season 3.
Season 3 is expected to also host a wide variety of celebrities, from athletes to movie stars, but the judging panel has not yet been confirmed.
Season 2 was well-received by viewers, gaining as many as 8 million viewers per episode before the finale, according to TV Series Finale. The Season 1 finale brought in a whopping 11 million viewers.
Conversations surrounding Season 2 were passionate as well. Throughout the season, Twitter users joined forces to debate and brainstorm the possible celebrities featured. Through this, a handful of strong and widely-popular theories were born.
One that proved to be true was the identity of Thingamajig. The monster-like creature turned out to be NBA star Victor Oladipo, as fans had expected for much of the series.
A theory that lasted into the finale surrounds the identity of Flamingo. Most fans seemed certain Adrienne Bailon was under the mask, even after she publicly denied being on the series.
Other theories proved to be wrong. A theory about Tree claimed it could be Paula Abdul or Candace Cameron-Bure, but it was really Ana Gasteyer, former Saturday Night Live comedian and singer.
